100% Telugu streaming platform aha is going a step above its idea of engaging streaming audiences with blockbuster shows and originals. The celebrity talk show, Sam Jam, hosted by actress Samantha Akkineni was one example where the platform empowered entertainment with a renewed social purpose. The show wasn’t only about fun-filled conversations with the biggest stars in the tinsel town, but also made it a point to honour the contributions and give a new lease of life to several changemakers across the Telugu states. The Narayankhed-district native Kavitha Rathod was one among them.
Kavitha Rathod lost her mother early in life and had to take charge of her family from a young age. Shifting her base to Hyderabad in search of livelihood, she learnt to drive an auto with the help of her uncle. She faced many roadblocks in an attempt to make a living out of it and even had to model herself in the guise of a man to win the acceptance of people. Her primary aim has always been to get her siblings married in good families, but COVID-19 halted her plans, albeit briefly. Alternatively, she returned to her native village to start a hotel to fend for her large family.
Noticing Kavitha’s resilience no matter what life threw at her, she was invited as a guest and was honoured at an episode of Sam Jam in the presence of actors Samantha and Tamannaah. Inspired by Kavitha’s struggle to fit into a man’s world, Samantha had announced that the former would be gifted a car in the episode and it has now changed Kavitha’s life for the better. Kavitha not only is a proud owner of a car but also has learnt the ropes of driving it in the busy lanes of the city within a few months. She hopes to balance between auto and car-driving simultaneously and remains eternally thankful to the show-makers and Samantha for all the help extended to her.
