Kajal and Manchu Vishnu have paired up for a film called Mosagallu. The film is a crime thriller and is based on a scam that happened in the US and was committed by a young brother and sister duo. Read on to know if this film has spice in it give it a shot this weekend.
Story :
Anu(Kajal) and Arjun(Vishnu) are always on the lookout for making big bucks. One fine day, they join hands with Arjun’s boss(Navdeep) and manage to pull off a big scam in the US by cheating some reputed companies. This scam gets blown out of proportion and the US cops seek the help of an Indian cop(Sunil Shetty) to nab the duo. What is that scam that the duo has committed? How serious is it? Will the US cops nab Anu and Arjun? That forms the story.
Analysis :
Mosagallu is based on a real-life incident that happened sometime back. Not many know that the basic draft of the film is written by Manchu Vishnu and he has kept the setup fine. He has also drafted the story well and starts off the proceedings on a good note. But what plays the main villain is the screenplay which is jaded and lacks the basic grip.
The film had a solid scope for crime drama but all that is not at all used and is spoilt with the silly direction. The manner in which the brother-sister duo fools the US company and how everyone there is clueless looks silly. The direction falters in many areas and emotions look forced. Kajal is the main person and does so well in her negative role.
The camerawork is good but the production values are not that great. Music is also neat but the BGM was impressive. What could have been a very good thriller is spoilt by a weak narration and lack of grip and depth in the scenes? Everything happens so easily and logic goes for a full toss.
Plus Points :
Kajal’s performance
Vishnu-Kajal chemistry
Story
Minus Points :
Dull screenplay
Logical issues
Over the top narration
Final Word :
Mosagallu is a crime thriller that had all the trappings to make a gripping watch. But that does not happen as the screenplay plays the spoil-sport and makes the film go down in no time. Kajal and Vishnu’s sincere acting holds the screen well but that is not enough to make the film an enjoyable fare.
