Aranya Movie Review
Rana is back after a long gap with his forest drama, Aranya. The film is out finally and, read on to know if it has anything interesting to give it a watch on the big screen.
Story
Narendra Bhupathi played by Rana is a man who is staying in the Chilakalakona forests for a long time. He wants to save the wildlife so that future generations can benefit from it. Here enters the forest minister(Anant Mahadevan) who decides to build a costly empire in the jungle. For this, he builds a 60 km wall to prevent the elephants from entering the project site for drinking water. This changes the situation and creates tension in the forest. How Narendra Bhupathi fights for this cause is the story of Aranya.
Analysis
The film is based on a real-life story that happened in Assam. Director Prabhu Solomon nicely adapts that situation into a film script and also sets it well. The film has a solid first half and showcases the forests, animals, and how things are being dominated by the corporates in a brutal manner.
The interval point is also handled so well and things are set for a racy second half. This is where the film falters as too many characters are introduced and the proceedings get bogged down. Looks like, after a while, the director did not understand how to hold the conflict point in the film. That is the reason, the love story of Vishnu Vishal gets more screen time.
By the end of the film, he is lost with ideas and ends the film with a lengthy monologue of Rana which looks really forced into the narrative. The only solace is the solid camerawork and amazing BGM.

Final Word
Aranya on paper is a solid story but execution-wise, it disappoints. The first half is good and gives good vibes to the audience. But things get spoilt in the latter part due to boring and silly narration. What keeps you going is Rana’s performance. This film makes up a comfortable OTT watch but is not for the big screens.
